Semarang \u2013 <\/span>Undip Communication Studies<\/b> students batch 2020 will determine their choice of concentration in semester 4. To provide students with an understanding of the two concentrations, Strategic Communication and Journalism, the 2021 Specialization Surgery event was held on Saturday (11\/13).<\/span><\/p>\n

The agenda for the presentation and discussion of the two concentrations for <\/span>Undip Communication Science<\/b> students who are in semester 3, Specialization Surgery 2021 has been successfully held as an annual work program from the Research and Development Department of HMPS <\/span>Communication Studies.<\/b> The event began with remarks by the Head of the <\/span>Undip Communication Studies <\/b>Study Program, S. Rouli Manalu.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Hopefully, in this specialization surgery, more students will attend because it is important for the future. If you have a good strategy, the final result is not only credits but skills are also built, personality is also formed,” said Rouli.<\/span><\/p>\n

“What we want to hope is that you hone your chosen field of specialization,” she added.<\/span><\/p>\n

The event continued with remarks by Azka Tsania Yahdini as chairman of the HMPS <\/span>Communication Studies<\/b> Deliberative Cabinet and Farah Alisha Mumtaz as Chair of the 2021 Specialization Surgery Event.<\/span><\/p>\n

The first session was delivered by Dr. Yanuar Luqman from the <\/span>Strategic Communication <\/b>concentration, who started his presentation by explaining the profile of graduates from that concentration. He said that Strategic Communication graduates work as designers and implementers of professional work in the field of strategic communication, such as in business, social, or political marketing communications, to advertising, and public relations.<\/span><\/p>\n

The lecturer, who is fondly called Mas Yan, explained that many of the course materials and assignments for the <\/span>Strategic Communication<\/b> concentration were in the form of projects.<\/span><\/p>\n

“The assignments and lectures are model projects, we will produce graduates of strategic communication like this,” said Mas Yan.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Don’t be surprised and complain because the tasks are all projects, the emphasis is indeed like that,” he continued.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is connected with the job prospects that are open to <\/span>Strategic Communication <\/b>graduates, namely marketing communications, market research analysts, digital marketing, promotion staff, copywriters, graphic designers, media planners, event management, political communication consultants, public relations staff, public relations consultants, or public relations institutions.<\/span><\/p>\n

The second session was filled with presentations on the concentration of <\/span>Journalism <\/b>by Dr. Nurul Hasfi. She hopes that this year the number of students who choose the Journalism concentration is at least the same as last year’s number. The presentation was followed by a description of the graduate profile that two job prospects could be done, namely journalists and content creators.<\/span><\/p>\n

“The current curriculum is related to content creators who may have the advantage of managing journalistic projects and creative content,” explained the lecturer who is also called Mba Nurul.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Journalism also does not mean being a journalist in a media company who works 24 hours, but not being patented or having to be there because developments are increasingly evident in the world of journalism.”<\/span><\/p>\n

The learning outputs in semester 4 were also described, visual journalism, video news, multimedia and marketing research, online journalism, digital newspaper production, video, investigative journalism, and press management. In this concentration, the skills to be honed are news making, presenter practice, and news programming.<\/span><\/p>\n

The resulting product will be how to create a dialogue program on television that includes content. This concentration also has to learn support facilities, such as a multimedia laboratory, internship cooperation (Kompas TV and Tempo Polytechnic), and fieldwork collaboration (TVRI, Central Java Kompas TV, and Cakra Semarang TV).<\/span><\/p>\n

After discussing with the lecturers from the two concentrations, the event was continued with a presentation session about the experiences of students who had undergone each concentration in<\/span> Communication Studies Undip.<\/b><\/p>\n

In Strategic Communication, Yuan Stephanie, who is a student of <\/span>Communication Studies <\/b>class of 2017 and has become an alumnus, shared her experience in choosing a concentration in Strategic Communication. She said that his interest in Strategic Communications concentration was due to his interest in studying campaign projects.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Long after studying, I realized that strategic communication is a good place to develop creativity,” said Yuan.<\/span><\/p>\n

“There are many projects in strategic communication courses to explore creativity as crazy as possible, there are no limits.”<\/span><\/p>\n

She continued that many courses and assignments would be in the form of group work, so good teamwork and activeness in contributing, as well as innovating projects, where needed.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Raihan Triaffandra, a 2017 student of<\/span> Communication Studies<\/b>, expressed his experience regarding the concentration of Journalism. He said that the reason for choosing Journalism was his vision of wanting to become a practitioner in the media world.<\/span><\/p>\n

Raihan stated that the Journalism concentration can be chosen by students who are interested in the world of photos, videos, or writing because they will learn a lot about standardization in these media. In Journalism, students must be able to position themselves as drafters or executors.<\/span><\/p>\n

“If you are at a crossroads, go back to what your vision is, and where your potential is,” he concluded.<\/span><\/p>\n
