Semarang<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 The Community Service Team from the Department of Communication Science, FISIP, Diponegoro University, conducted a digital literacy training titled\u00a0“Digital Literacy Training for Children’s Safety in the Digital World”<\/strong>\u00a0at SD Negeri Rowosari 01, Rowosari Village, Tembalang District, Semarang City, in October 2025.<\/p>\n

This activity was attended by teachers of SD Negeri Rowosari 01 with the aim of empowering educators as the frontline in protecting children from various digital threats.<\/p>\n

The community service team was led by\u00a0Dr. Nurul Hasfi, S.Sos., M.A.<\/strong>, with members\u00a0Dr. Triyono Lukmantoro, S.Sos.,\u00a0M.Si.<\/strong>,\u00a0Dr. Agus Naryoso, S.Sos.,\u00a0M.Si.<\/strong>,\u00a0Muchamad Yuliyanto, S.Sos.,\u00a0M.Si.<\/strong>,\u00a0Dr. Phil. Nuriyatul Lailiyah, S.Sos., M.I.Kom.<\/strong>, and\u00a0Agne Yasa, S.I.Kom., M.A.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In her opening remarks, Dr. Nurul Hasfi emphasized the important role of teachers in facing the challenges of the digital era.\u00a0“Teachers have a central role as agents of change in children’s digital literacy in the social media era. Protecting children in the digital world is not only the responsibility of parents, but also a collaboration between teachers, schools, and the community,”<\/strong>\u00a0she said.<\/p>\n

The event featured two main topics. First,\u00a0“Brain Rot: Digital Culture and the Crisis of Thinking Power in the Social Media Era”<\/strong>\u00a0by\u00a0Dr. Nurul Hasfi, S.Sos., M.A.<\/strong>\u00a0She explained the phenomenon of brain rot as a decline in focus and critical thinking skills due to excessive digital content consumption.\u00a0“Brain rot is not just a digital brain disease, but a crisis of thinking culture that must be a serious concern for all elements of society,”<\/strong>\u00a0she explained.<\/p>\n

The second topic was delivered by\u00a0Dr. Agus Naryoso, S.Sos.,\u00a0M.Si.<\/strong>\u00a0titled\u00a0“Awesome Rowosari, Safe Children in the Digital Era! Let’s Become Great Teachers! A Practical Guide for Elementary School Teachers in Rowosari”<\/strong>. This material provided direct action guidelines for teachers in protecting children from digital threats while utilizing technology educatively.\u00a0“We need to be aware of the negative impacts of digital media such as addiction, cyberbullying, exposure to inappropriate content, and the spread of hoaxes. However, on the other hand, digital media also has positive aspects such as wide access to information, unlimited communication, and creativity development,”<\/strong>\u00a0he stated.<\/p>\n

After the material presentation, participants took part in an interactive workshop guided by\u00a0Dr. Phil. Nuriyatul Lailiyah, S.Sos., M.I.Kom.<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Agne Yasa, S.I.Kom., M.A.<\/strong>, providing teachers with opportunities to discuss and simulate the practical application of digital literacy in schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile,\u00a0Dr. Triyono Lukmantoro, S.Sos.,\u00a0M.Si.<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Muchamad Yuliyanto, S.Sos.,\u00a0M.Si.<\/strong>\u00a0also supported this training as an effort to protect children from digital world threats.<\/p>\n

The Principal of SD Negeri Rowosari 01,\u00a0Anik Fatayatun, S.Pd. SD.<\/strong>, expressed her appreciation.\u00a0“This training is very beneficial for us as teachers. Now we are better prepared to face digital challenges and guide students to use technology wisely,”<\/strong>\u00a0she said.<\/p>\n

This community service activity is expected to be an initial step in creating a healthy and safe digital ecosystem for children in Rowosari Village, through cross-sector collaboration between academics, schools, local government, and the community.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
