Semarang – A few days ago, the world was commemorating International Women’s Day which fell on March 8. On that same day, Hersphere celebrated its first anniversary. Hersphere is a platform that aims to empower young Indonesian women to dream bigger. Through this platform, Hersphere invites Indonesian women to dare to re-articulate their ambitions so that they are not viewed negatively. Hersphere was founded by a student of Communication Science from Diponegoro University (Undip), Anggi Tri M Harahap or who is often called Anggi Rin.
Not just a name, Hersphere has a deep meaning which means a place for every woman to dream, grow and rise together.
“Hersphere actually comes from two words, namely ‘her’ and ‘sphere’, which means that in this case, hersphere can be a judgment-free, safe, and supportive scope, or circle, for every woman to dream, grow and rise. together while being one another’s support system,” explained Anggi.
Anggi’s interest in women’s issues since high school was one of the reasons he founded Herspere. Besides, when he took a gender communication course at Undip Communication Science, he began to worry about women’s issues.
“From high school students have started to be interested in women’s issues and deepen self-love, and have mentioned themselves as independent women, until finally in college when they took a gender communication course at Undip Communication Science, they started to concern about women’s issues and were aware of gender equality, woman empowerment, and feminism,” she continued.
In its continuation, Hersphere has two main agendas, namely webinars and a women’s campaign on Instagram. The Hersphere webinar entitled ‘Though Her Thought’, a webinar with a sharing session style, who often invites inspiring women to share experiences. The second agenda is ‘her sight of stories’, a kind of campaign to collect and voice the stories and experiences of Indonesian women in facing the obstacles that society has given them for their ambitions. The campaign is presented in the form of animated storytelling videos or comic strips. Hersphere is also active on social media by uploading various interesting content related to women.
“We are active in social media content, so we try to present content related to personal growth, motivation, inspiring quotes, etc., of course in the future we will have other programs,” said Anggi.
Anggi also expressed his hope for Indonesian women to support and embrace each other.
“I hope that Indonesian women can support each other and lift each other, instead of bringing down each other. Because I believe when women come together, big things happen, “concluded Anggi.
