Semarang – Lecture for the odd semester has officially ended in mid-December and the even semester will begin in a few days. In connection with the commencement of lecture activities for the Even semester of the 2020/2021 Academic Year, students of the Communication Science undergraduate study program have started filling out the IRS (Study Plan Entry) from January 18, 2021, to February 12, 2021, through the SIAP (Academic Information System) Diponegoro University (Undip).

Communication Science students face various joys and sorrows when filling in the IRS, one of which is SSO (Single Sign-On) in a state of maintenance or in a state of repair a few hours before filling in the IRS begins. In addition, new students were confused in filling out the IRS due to a lack of information.

“It’s confusing, for the first time the contents of the IRS lacked information related to filling out the PBM (Teaching and Learning Process) evaluation that had to be done beforehand. Fortunately, there are friends, seniors, and guardians who help with the procedures for filling in the IRS, “said Imanuel Sonang Haholongan, 2020 Communication Science student.

Not only new students but old students were also confused and worried about not getting a class due to SIAP, which often had problems filling out the IRS.

“Initially I was confused and worried about not getting classes or courses or close friends because it was really the first time I had filled the IRS like this, the problem was more on the SIAP website which often had problems when the IRS filling time arrived,” said Nadia Audy, 2019 class of Communication Science students.

Behind all the obstacles faced by students, the university has provided a video tutorial on filling in the IRS through the NIS Undip Channel Youtube channel. Several students admitted that the video tutorial was quite helpful in filling out the IRS.

“Have watched. Quite informative, but lacks innovation in the video. It needs a refresher on the video tutorial because there is an update on the SSO website, “said Tubagus Alnur Muhammad, a 2020 class of Communication Science student.

Unfortunately, some students still get conflicting schedules and don’t get courses. One of them, Nadia Audy, admitted that she was not very comfortable with the class quota regulations.

“I feel uncomfortable with the class rule that you have to always meet the quota of 75, after which another class opens, even though there are many conflicting schedules or a day where there are more than three courses, so it is necessary to reconsider about meeting the class quota,” explained Nadia.

Meanwhile, the department, Dr., Yanuar Luqman S.Sos., M.Si, explained that the distance lecture model made the class quota enlarged from one class of at least 40 students with a maximum of 50 students to a minimum of 70 students.

“So that’s why yesterday when filling out the IRS, each course was only opened, one class was waiting for it in full, after 70 completion it was opened again to open the second class, that’s the mechanism,” he said.

Responding to student complaints regarding filling out the IRS, the department took the initiative to gather students into one forum using Ms. Teams. At the meeting, students could describe the problems they faced when filling out the IRS. Then, the department will provide a solution to the problem. “Until now there have been no reports of students experiencing problems,” said the lecturer who is called Mas Yanuar in the Communication Science environment.

“Well, actually it would be better if from the first semester to the next semester, for example, strategic communication is divided into two classes of friends, just be consistent, if usually grade 7 is grade 7 if usually grade 8 is grade 8, but we can’t force it. because the nature of this course is open,” he added.

Students certainly hope that in the future the IRS filing can run smoothly without any problems that make students worry or confused. However, cooperation between students and department teams is also needed so that problems that arise can be resolved quickly and precisely.
