Three students from the Communication Science Study Program at Diponegoro University have once again brought pride to the institution on a national level. Wienneta Neysa Wierawan, Yonna Cantika Novyanasari, and Atilla Radja Satria secured the 1st Runner-Up position in the EURECA (Economics and Business Research Festival) 2025 – Marketing Plan Competition, hosted by Prasetiya Mulya University from April 14–17, 2025, in BSD, South Tangerang.

This competition challenged participants with real-world industry case studies. This year, teams were tasked with developing innovative marketing strategies for Bank Central Asia (BCA) and presenting them directly to the company’s management team. The challenge tested not only participants’ analytical abilities, but also their communication skills, teamwork, and strategy development based on client needs.

With only two weeks to prepare after the case release, the UNDIP Communication team combined theoretical insights from their Marketing Communication courses with practical experience gained throughout the competition process. They also received guidance from their Communication lecturers, including intensive support from Mas Jojo.

“We consulted with Mas Jojo to learn how to deliver a strong pitch. His tips were incredibly helpful and gave us a mental boost too,” said Wienneta, when asked about what contributed to their team’s success.

During the proposal preparation, the team faced multiple challenges, including tailoring strategies to client expectations, creating a realistic budget plan, and aligning ideas within a tight deadline. Although it was their first time participating in a case-based competition, the team’s cohesion and eagerness to learn played a crucial role in their achievement.

“We did a lot of research and brainstorming to align our thoughts. Oh, and budgeting—that part really gave us a headache. We were nervous about being asked detailed questions on that,” Yonna added, reflecting on the difficulties during the competition process.

More than just a win, the experience gave the team valuable practical exposure and a broader understanding of the marketing industry. All three agreed that this achievement proves Communication Science students have strong potential to compete nationally—as long as they are willing to try and make the most of available opportunities.

Their success also underscores UNDIP Communication Science’s commitment to supporting student development—not only academically, but also in terms of professional competencies. The team hopes their achievement will inspire other students to step outside their comfort zones and embrace various opportunities during their time at university.

“Especially for freshmen—take advantage of all the facilities UNDIP offers, from the environment to the people (lecturers and fellow students). UNDIP provides amazing resources—it’d be a shame not to use them,” said Atilla, when asked to share a message for students interested in joining competitions or for future new students.
