Semarang – National Selection for State Universities (SNMPTN) is a prestigious event for SMA / MA / K students throughout Indonesia to become new students at state universities using the report card route. Monday (22/03), the Higher Education Entrance Test Institute (LTMPT) held a press conference for the announcement of SNMPTN at 10.00 WIB which was broadcast live through the LTMPT Official YouTube channel. On the same day, SNMPTN announcements can be accessed starting at 15.00 WIB.

Being one of the universities with the status of a legal entity state university (PTN-BH), Diponegoro University has the right to accept new SNMPTN students with a quota of 20%. Based on data from LTMPT, Undip accepted 2,106 new students and was ranked 11th in PTN as the most student recipients in the 2021 SNMPTN route.

Of the existing study programs, Communication Science is one of the 3rd most desirable study programs at Diponegoro University. The ranking of study programs with the most enthusiasts is uploaded directly by the @Undip.official account on Instagram.

Seeing that the Communication Science study program is the top three most enthusiasts at Undip, S. Rouli Manalu, Ph. D, Head of the Communication Studies Program, admits that there is an increase every year.

“As for the general pattern or pattern, every year there is always an increase in the interest in Communication Science. As far as I know, it continues to increase, there is a graph that is increasing every year,” she explained.

Furthermore, the lecturer who is familiarly called Mbak Uli in the Communication Science environment is also aware of the interest of the younger generation in the communication industry. According to her, Communication Science is a world trend that will continue to change so that there are many opportunities for a career in the world of communication.

“Communication is increasingly in demand, but in my opinion, this is not only in Undip Communication Science, huh. This kind of trend is increasing the interest of the younger generation in the discipline of Communication Sciences. We know how it is possible because of an increase in the media and communication industry which is also growing. It can be said that this is a changing era that talks a lot about information, communication, and data,” she added.

With the development of the times to changing educational trends, the Communication Science study program, which is considered by many enthusiasts, is still equipped with innovations in every lesson.

“This innovation has different forms, it could be innovation in terms of learning, material, it is academic. There are also many non-academic matters, such as student activities at the university, supporting facilities, and the infrastructure that is equipped on campus. It is an innovation that is always thought of to be able to serve and facilitate student learning,” she explained.

Rouli hopes that students of the Communication Science study program will be able to commit and be innovative in learning.

“Our mission here (in Communication Studies) is how to engage or interact with students, in a meaningful way. Learning is not only in the classroom but also outside the classroom. We hope that students will seriously build themselves to become quality human resources and think about what contribution they will give,” she concluded.
