Semarang – The Covid-19 pandemic has not subsided and is still ongoing today. Lecture activities also still fully take advantage of technological developments with video conferencing. However, these obstacles are not a barrier to being able to continue to maximize time so that some organizational activities up to the committee are still running and activities carried out by the Diponegoro University Communication Science Student Association (HMPS) are still carried out using the virtual method.

Talking about the sustainability of the organization during a pandemic, Azka Tsania, Chairman of the Communication Science HMPS Deliberative Cabinet, stated his readiness to carry out all organizational agendas that have turned virtual.

“Like it or not, the association runs an online organization, be it work programs or coordination. Currently, a year of adapting to the online world for lectures has passed. Learning and organizational activities must run properly. However, it does not rule out the possibility to still encounter obstacles in the middle of the activities that are being carried out.

“The obstacle is more of a little miscommunication. I immediately tried to find a way to overcome it. If there is a miscommunication, I will immediately confirm, re-chat, call again so that everything can be clear. Take the positives, as well as take lessons from the existing obstacles,” said Azka responding to the obstacles experienced when leading the Communication Science HMPS.

Taking the positive side of the obstacles experienced, Azka arranged for the HMPS Communication Science work program to the head of the department regarding efforts to be able to work together.

“Yesterday, we had a chance to chat with Mbak Uli as the Head of the Department of Communication S-1 Study Program about cooperating efforts. The response from the department is good, they provide support and advice. Maybe, we can cooperate with lecturers too,” said Azka.

Talking about the work program, this year, HMPS Communication Science Deliberative Cabinet held an annual event, Commweek. Still, under the direction of the head of the association, Commweek 2021 is chaired by Fauzan Surya, a student of the Communication Science Class of 2019. Many hope for HMPS Communication Science’s biggest annual event this year.

“Of course, we always pray that this year’s Commweek and beyond will be better, cooler, and the best. Hopefully, we can survive because the term is still being tested this year. We must be able to fight together to show that this Comeweek can because of the enthusiasm and positive vibes that friends will give to this event later,” explained Fauzan as general chairman of the 2021 Commweek.

In line with Fauzan, Azka hopes that its members can undergo various activities in front of their eyes with the spirit of good collaboration.

“I want my fellow administrators to be strong in running the organization and committee in Communication Sciences during this pandemic, hopefully, the Communication will continue to run smoothly. Hopefully, our work program can be successful and get support from many parties. Keep coordinating and collaborating,” she said.

Although Commweek 2021 is certain to run online, this does not dampen the enthusiasm of Communication Science students to take part in its implementation. Open recruitment for staff per division has also been held from 24 to 26 February through the Ms. platform. Teams.

“Very excited, yes. There are so many hopes, ideas, and innovations that can be poured into this year’s Commweek. Hopefully, you can get good feedback too. So, support each other and try to give as much as possible for this Commweek 2021, “said Fauzan.
