Semarang – Rookie Diponegoro University Communication Science HMD successfully held a webinar entitled Hayantara 2021 on Friday (15/1). With the theme “The Pursuit of Higher Education” this event aims to explain effective learning strategies to face the SBMPTN, tips for choosing a major, and also motivation for State University (PTN) fighters to consistently maintain hope during a pandemic.
The event, which was held virtually through the Zoom Meetings platform, presented three speakers with different backgrounds, namely Yasmin Hana (Student of the Faculty of Law UI 2020), Alif Sudarmanta (Chair of the 2020 Undip Medical Faculty Association), and Fauzan Alrasyid (Senior Editor of Russia Beyond & Students Master of Linguistics, University of Indonesia)
Effective Learning Strategies
Moderated by one of the XL Future Leader Batch 8 scholarship holders, Marvel Tanara, the webinar began with a presentation by Yasmin Hana who shared tips and tricks for effective learning. At the beginning of his presentation, Yasmin advised being able to manage productivity in achieving the desired goals.
“Before discussing further, we must know what productivity means. Do not let it become toxic productivity that makes us too busy to achieve our goals, so forget to take care of our health, lack of interaction with family, ” she ordered.
According to him, in achieving success in learning, each individual must know himself first, starting from finalizing goals, self-mapping, trial and error, evaluation, determining indicators of success, to maintaining consistency. Yasmin invited PTN fighters to be able to develop these tips even though it was never easy.
“Starting something is easy, maintaining, or even developing is difficult. Therefore, studying smart is more important than studying hard,” explained Yasmin.
Lecture Dynamics and Tons of Experiences
The second speaker who was the Chair of the FK Undip Association, Alif Sudarmanta, focused on sharing tricks to survive in the world of lectures with its various dynamics. In front of approximately 270 participants, Alif, who now also works part-time in a coffee shop, reminded that academics and non-academics must continue to be developed. One of the tips is to emphasize self-development through passion as the main key in achieving goals in lectures.
“Know your passion, because this passion will lead us to achieve our goals. Looking for passion can be by trying things that we are interested in,” he said.
Alif also shared about the lessons he had learned while in college, one of which was related to relationships with the environment and with oneself.
“The first lesson learned in college is that to make friends with other people, we must make friends and make peace with ourselves,” he said.
One of the participants who joined, Wahyullah, in the question and answer session asked about tricks and tips and learning methods to achieve goals in lectures. Answering this question, according to Alif, a combination of hard work and prayer is the key to hope in the desired goal.
“Learning installments, studying with teachers and friends, and summarizing the material. Hard work and prayers. Hard work will pay off, even if it can’t be achieved, there will be blessings. Failure does not mean we are not worthy,” he replied.
Facing the Heat of Selection to Enter PTN
The third presentation was delivered by the most senior speaker in this webinar, namely Fauzan Alrasyid who is a Senior Editor of Russia Beyond & Master Student of Linguistics, University of Indonesia. Fauzan discussed strategies in facing PTN selection, especially the UTBK test as a barometer of SBMPTN graduation. Fauzan suggested studying effectively and ignoring the quantity of learning but the quality that was obtained.
“Learning is effective, it’s not a matter of quantity or studying the longest. But what is effective is 3 hours or 4 hours is up to you, everyone has their capacity. Don’t study at will, you have to know what you need to learn, where you are still weak, and learn systematically.” he advised.
On the next occasion, Fauzan also shared tips on taking the PTN entrance exam. According to him, how individuals manage panic is a vital ability in dealing with pressure in taking exams.
“Actually, on that day everyone panicked, you should not feel the most panic, because success in working with the questions depends on who can best manage his panic feelings. Do the easier questions first,” he explained.
At the end of his presentation, Fauzan gave a quote from him as an injection of motivation for PTN fighters in the form of a fresh conclusion from the Hayantara 2021 webinar.
“Those who make it into PTN are not those who can, but those who want to. You can only get what you give. ” – Fauzan
